Thats wiki sewn up now what about accounting

The Google acquisition of Jotspot is all over my blogoscope, much of which is regurgitation of the FAQs and releases from JotSpot. Zoli however is probably closer to the truth than the others commenting out there.

I was kind of suprised about the acquisition because I was sure that Google were building their own web based component framework. The acquisition does however get them to that position much more quickly, They now have a team that have sewn the business components together and seen how businesses react. Thus having them do this again with Google's more advanced components GSpread,Gwrite,GCal ,GMail etc..... will be a easy for them. The solution will also scale massively on Googles infrastructure and finally give a decent coherent business interface to Google's technology.

It is of course very very bad news for Zoho, as Zoli points out, they have to move fast, however I don't see how that particular tail can wag the dog.

All in all even though Google could have done this themselves (And I am sure this has been in the pipe for sometime) This gets them to first base in double quick time while Microsoft is paralyzed with it's personal innovators dilemma.

Question is which missing components will be integrated next, small business CRM/Accounting ? will they go with a Web 2.0 team like FreshBooks or will they buy an installed base like Intuit what do you think?
