Integrating process with web spreadhseets

I have just uploaded the second part to the the first Labs series 'The spreadsheet is dead long live the spreadsheet'. Inside I take things a bit further, aggregating tasks by project from Google's Gcal. This starts making the process much more useful. This project task aggregation is then processed and compiled into individual sheets within a spreadsheet book, ready for the bookkeeper or accountant to process for invoicing.

Rather than using Google's spreadsheet this time I use EditGrid. EditGrid has been around for some time now, I first came across it when I wrote my Urtra Deep Linking post back in March. At the time I was investigating the different web based spreadsheet solution available (well before Google's Spreadsheet). Well since then EditGrid has come on a long way and feature wise is well ahead of the pack. The main reason I have chosen to use EditGrid in the second part of this lab test is because It provides excellent features and more importantly an API.

Having an API on a web based spreadsheet is a game changer in my opinion. It changes the spreadsheet from an internal finance hacking tool into an extremely powerful web integration tool. What is more, it does so with a familiar interface. Many business participants already know how to use a spreadsheet, extending this metaphor to the internet is a powerful concept. Right now the only business allowing us to play with such a concept is EditGrid.

I won't say anymore here, take a look at the second part of the Lab which reveals just the tip of the iceberg of this business 2.0 disruptor - The Spreadsheet Present.

P.S. I have a great treat., During developing this lab piece I had a long conversations with David Lee founder of EditGrid earlier this week, he gave me an Exclusive interview regarding EditGrid and what is coming in the near future, I will get this post out shortly so keep tuned in..

* Discolsure - Folknology has no direct relationship with EditGrid apart from being an avid participant in there beta program, just in case you were wondering.
