Dennis's AccMan - FreshBooks and Enterprise 2.0
Dennis has another great article AccMan - FreshBooks and Enterprise 2.0. As usual he is picking up on the approaching freight train for his industry. As usual he enumerates significant turning points for others to focus in on.
First he talks about his recent conversations with FreshBook's CEO Mick McDerment where he sees the vision of web based application focused component, connecting together making 2 + 2 = 5, in this case FreshBooks and EchoSign. He is also exposed to the real wins of web based components, the wisdom of the crowds where by information is pooled and aggregated in order to help the users manage their businesses better and get more out of the components (D refers to this as Market Intelligence). This is all great stuff, when we started using LiveTally we started discovering similar benefits and envisaged even greater community benefits, our model however is likely to be more federated in nature however, given the native component design we are converging on. But D's article doesn't stop there he brings out one of the biggest elephants in the modern comms room, that of emails not providing a reliable routing mechanism. This has been the case for sometime (Yes D your not alone) we have been having this problem for quite a long time, as have our customers. This was one of the reasons we started looking for alternatives and not finding them started our own project to solve the issues, We call it BEER. More on that soon. For now however check out D's article and follow the links it's required reading and not just for accounting pros. Keep it up D, don't worry there is light at the end of the tunnel, where there is a problem there is a solution waiting to be made watch this space..
